Water Piping Leakage Detection and Preventive System (REF: W-0564)

Trial Project
Summary and Challenges
A pipe bursting incident in the aging hospital water system could result in service interruptions and threaten patient safety. It also presents significant risks of facility damage and high repair costs. When a pipe burst occurs, pinpointing the source of water leakage becomes challenging, necessitating the shutdown of the entire water supply system, thereby disrupting hospital operations.
The complex distribution of water pipes sometimes makes conventional water strap detection technologies impractical, posing a major challenge in comprehensive leak detection. Typically, leaks are only discovered after a pipe burst and flooding incident, rendering the traditional method passive and suboptimal.
Expected Outcome
Our objective is to develop an intelligent AI-based water leak detection and prevention system utilising cutting-edge water leak sensor technology. These sensors will cover the hospital's primary and branch plumbing systems, enabling real-time monitoring of water flow volume, pressure changes, and other relevant parameters. The gathered data will undergo processing via a central management system, incorporating machine learning algorithms and big data analysis to anticipate water leakage by identifying anomalies within normal patterns.
Upon detecting potential leaks, the system will issue alerts through an intuitive central control panel, SMS, and messages. Moreover, the system will be engineered to automatically close relevant valves in emergencies, such as pipe bursts, to minimise further damage.
Expected Trial Duration
6-month
