Summary and Challenges
  • This project aims to develop an Autonomous Valet Robot (AVR) for trial use within EMSD vehicle maintenance workshop.
  • The AVR shall be of minimum size but capable to lift saloons and private cars, as well as to autonomously move the vehicle to desired area safely and precisely.
  • The operation of AVR shall accommodate the environment of vehicle maintenance workshop, which includes vehicles, in-house staffs, guests and maintenance equipment (e.g. 2-Post Hoist).
  • Necessary provisions and user interface shall be provided for the staff to access the function of the AVR.
  • Necessary safety provisions shall be provided to alert in-house staff and guests in the operation area.
Expected Outcome
  • The AVR system shall automate the movement of vehicles between parking spaces and maintenance bays, eliminating the need for our staff to perform these tasks and allow them to focus exclusively on maintenance work. In addition, it should be able to rearrange vehicle parking, avoid obstacles and determine a feasible route to meet the expected outcome.
