Summary and Challenges
  • In a swimming pool with heated pool facilities, the boiler system for heated pool usually consumes large amount of energy. We wish to apply AI technology to study and learn the correlation among the pool water temperature, people counting, weather, and other related elements, with prediction of pool water heat loss and then to optimize the operation of the heating boilers to achieve energy saving, at the same time to keep the water quality and temperature at a qualified standard.
  • Trial Site Background:
    1. Outdoor swimming pool
    2. Coordination with the suppliers of the boiler system and associated control system to carry out necessary modification of the existing boiler DDC and control system for AI implementation
  • Data to be collected before and after AI implementation, including but not limited to:
    1. Heated pool water temperature (Sensor shall be contactless type and shall not be installed on surface of swimming pool)
    2. Local environmental data including temperature, humidity, wind speed, solar intensity, etc.
    3. Power consumption of the boiler system
Expected Outcome
  • Expectation with achievement of at least 20% reduction in boiler energy consumption
