Summary and Challenges This project aims to develop an automated lift rope monitoring system using AI and high-speed imaging to assess integrity and identify early defects. The system provides continuous, real-time analysis of moving lift ropes via localized edge AI processing, improving on traditional manual inspections.Current inspection methods have key limitations:
  1. Safety risks: Technicians must work in confined, hazardous spaces near moving machinery.
  2. Reactive maintenance: Periodic inspections leave gaps where defects can worsen unnoticed.
  3. Limited data: Manual reports are often descriptive rather than quantitative, making predictive maintenance difficult.
