AI-powered Companions for Elderly

I&T Wish AI-powered Companions for Elderly
(REF: W-0600)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges
  • AI-powered companions are increasingly being integrated into the lives of the elderly to offer companionship, assistant and improve overall well-beings. However, current market available products for eldercare (e.g. companion pets, robot & etc) are limited by pre-defined models, lacks of flexibility and customized AI-generated characters.
  • In addition, there are some challenges for AI-generated characters,
    1. Time Constraints: Generating characters that can respond and adapt in real-time can be complex, requiring significant computational power and optimization to ensure smooth interactions.
    2. Familiarity issues: Users may take time to become familiar with AI-generated characters, affecting engagement and acceptance. If characters lack relatable traits or consistency, it can hinder user connection and bonding.
    3. Technical feasibility: Real-time model swapping would require significant computational resources. The Completeness, realism and latency of AI-generated characters takes significant time to be refined.
Expected Outcome
  • The key requirements and achievements:
    1. AI-generated realistic characters, enriching familiarity of AI-generated realistic characters with Elderly's preferences (e.g. replicate Elderly's relatives images, voice tones and language) and interactive with elderly by bi-directional communication via mobile devices;
    2. Live demonstration of AI-generated realistic characters to related parties in step-by-step procedures, from provision of photo, unlimited and swappable AI-generated realistic character within time constraint (e.g. 1-3 minutes) and for bi-directional communication;
    3. AI-embedded communication dialogue database with
      1. corresponding elderly's background, experience and relatives dialogue record;
      2. news report, weather report and etc
      3. reminder for diet/ medication/ exercise reminder and etc
Expected Trial Duration 8-month
