Trial Project
Summary and Challenges

Humanoid robots have strong potential in facility management, inspection, and service applications, but their deployment in buildings remains limited by weak autonomous navigation capabilities. In particular, many humanoid robots could not travel independently between floors, interact with lift systems, or automatic doors without custom integration. This results in repeated secondary development work for each new robot model, leading to longer deployment time, higher cost, and limited scalability across different sites and robot brands.

This project proposes a modular, plug-and-play autonomous navigation plugin for humanoid robots that can be installed within minimal setup across different brands and models. The plugin will enable robots to navigate indoors, call and travel in lifts by identifying and pressing the correct floor buttons, and pass through automatic doors safety and reliably.  A key design objective is interoperability, so the solution can support data exchange and task collaboration among humanoid robot platforms from different brands.

Expected Outcome
  • Humanoid robots can move independently between floors in buildings
  • Reduced need for repeated custom development for each robot model
  • Shorter Deployment time and lower integration cost
  • Stronger foundation for wider use of humanoid robots in facility management in government buildings
Expected Trial Duration 9-month
