The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department achieved outstanding and encouraging results at the “Leading Towards Robotics Technologies” Innovation Competition

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) has all along been proactive in applying new technologies to enhance service quality, and ensuring that electrical, mechanical and energy technologies are harnessed in a safe, reliable, economical and environmentally friendly manner for the betterment of people's quality of life.  As the innovation facilitator of the Government, the EMSD also supports and facilitates the application of innovative technologies by bureaux and departments to improve services and support smart city development.  We are very pleased to achieve encouraging results at the "Leading Towards Robotics Technologies" Innovation Competition (the Competition), winning the Grand Award, 1st Runner up Award and three Merit Awards.

The Competition is organised by the Smart Government Innovation Lab (Smart LAB) of the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, with the EMSD as the strategic partner.  A total of 38 innovative proposals were received from 13 government bureaux and departments.  The Smart LAB then matched the ten proposals shortlisted by the selection panel with the local technology industry for a six-month proof-of-concept development.  The final judging panel selected the winners on 28 July 2021 after listening to the presentation of the ten finalists on the progress and results of the proof-of-concept development.  For results and details about the Competition, please visit https://www.smartlab.gov.hk/en/
