EMSD has been carrying out a trial on using a model of “Passive LED Power Supply” for LED floodlights at Ah Kung Kok Basketball Court in Shatin since March 2018. The power supply is jointly developed by The University of Hong Kong and a local technology company. According to the information provided by the company, this power supply can operate under adverse weather conditions with a longer lifespan, and more than 80% of its parts can be recycled. The technology was awarded a prize at the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva in April 2018.
