Solution Feature
  • Use distributed 4G-linked edge-processing unit to collect the measured values of BWA (overhead line tension data in terms of the distance-traveled of the balancing weight, surface temperature of the wire and ambient temperature) at various points of the railway system
  • Alarm would be initiated when the measured data is outside the allowable range. AI algorithm (robot) will be developed, and the historical data accumulated will be used to for AI robot training. The robot will be able to predict pre-mature fault and set alarm for operator attention
  • Long short term memory (LSTM) will be employed as the main AI technology for the pre-mature fault prediction
  • The edge processing unit includes an outdoor type camera, and will take a picture whenever abnormal situation is detected. Video analytic technology will be used to compare the real-time image with the pre-stored “normal” state picture to verify the abnormal situation before sending an alarm
  • Web and mobile APP will be available for the operator to manage the system
Trial Application and Expected Outcome
  • Total 4 lots of edge processing unit (easy to install and remove) will be provided for real-time measurement up to 4 sites
  • Site data will be immediately available via 4G data link to the cloud platform for big-data and AI processing
  • Fault detection will be immediately operable, and the 15-mins interval real-time data will be accumulated in the cloud platform database
  • After the AI robot be properly trained by the historical data, the cloud platform will be ready to perform pre-mature fault prediction
