Bluetooth Network Infrastructure for Asset Management

I&T Wish Bluetooth Network Infrastructure for Asset Management
(REF : W-0250)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges

Asset management of, for example office facilities and medical devices, could be resources consuming. The project requests for a Real Time Location System (RTLS) based on Bluetooth Low Energy technology, including node (receiver) and beacon (transmitter), to enable real time asset tracking with high precision. The nodes are fixed on ceilings and the beacon is inherently attached on the target equipment for continuous tracking. The beacons should have long battery life for minimising maintenance.  The tracking position information should be stored in Centralized Management System (CMS) to facilitate timely management and optimise asset utilisation.

Expected Outcome
  1. A Real Time Location System (RTLS) with Bluetooth Network infrastructure should be set up for real time positioning with trace and routine with high precision.
  2. The solution should possess localisation capability to enable positioning of critical asset across an area in 2D /3D map. The precision should be 50cm or finer.
  3. The solution should facilitate decision making to pop up event log for the asset regarding type and attribute, allowable zone and motion detection.
  4. Battery life of Beacon should be more than 1 year.
  5. The Bluetooth network should cover the entire selected trail area with locators and tags.
  6. A Central Management System (CMS) should be set up to provide data analysis, reporting, and various level of event alerts.
Expected Trial Duration 6 months
