Blockage Detection in Communal Drainage Pipes in Public Rental Housing Estate (REF: W-0432)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges
Blockage of cast iron pipe / epoxy coat cast iron pipe / uPVC communal drainage pipes in domestic blocks will lead to backflow and flooding in the flats, and cause great nuisance to the tenants. The clogging and blocking of the communal drainage pipes will cause backflow throughout the W.C. pans, showers, bathtubs and floor drains.
By use of the suitable sensing technology, earlier detection of communal drainage blockage will help preventive maintenance in the communal drainage pipes, before it comes to a serious problem affecting the tenants.
We are searching for innovative I&T solution which can help to detect the clogging of the communal drainage pipes to help maintenance personnel to clear the clogging situation before it comes to a serious blockage.
Expected Outcome
Solution is preferred to adopt LPWAN technologies (i.e. LoRa, Sigfox, NB-IoT) in the sensing devices.
The sensing devices for clogging detection should be able to apply to the communal drainage pipes either exposed or consealed.
The solution shall interface with 3rd party platforms/system for data sharing.
The sensing devices shall be considered to mount securely with sufficient measures to prevent vandalism, and are able to adapt external environment.
